About Us

Nice to meet you!

We are Biological Engineering PhD students at MIT. We graduated from MIT with a degree in Biological Engineering and a minor in African and African Diaspora Studies. We come from an African American family and went to public school in Woodbridge, New Jersey. After four years of Science Research, AP classes, and various activities, we graduated at the top of our high school class together as co-valedictorians. During our undergraduate studies, we were a part of multiple diverse groups on campus such as Nu Delta Fraternity, The Standard, and Laureates and Leaders. We also worked with MIT Admissions as Admissions Ambassadors to increase the amount of underrepresented students that apply to and attend MIT. We currently are in the labs of Jacquin Niles and Christopher Voigt to develop biotechnologies to combat the effects of climate change. Recently, we have started social media accounts on Tiktok, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, and Discord promoting STEM and higher education in fun and relatable ways..

At the MIT Laureates and Leaders Induction Ceremony, a graduate school initiative designed to support underrepresented students pursuit of doctoral degrees.
Outside of school, we are huge gamers, playing both board and video games with the people around us. We are big comic book universe fans and love theorizing about the latest Marvel or DC movies. In addition, we watch many TV shows in our free time, especially anime. With all of these activities, we enjoy doing them with friends as well as other social activities whether it be partying, listening to music, or just chatting. When we are at home, we spend a lot of time with our parents. We like to do jigsaw puzzles with our mom and help her garden in the Spring when the weather is nice. With our dad, there is always some mini competition or friendly wager that we have going on, especially involving a deck of cards. Together, we try to have family outings every so often like going to the movies or eating dinner out at a local restaurant. Speaking of family, we absolutely love hanging out with our half-brother, Shy. He’s our 16 year old Shih-Tzu and we have had him as long as we’ve been in school! He acts just like us: he loves to sleep, eat, and watch TV in the living room.
